First Lady Liza Marcos, Chiz attend Sorsogon's Kasanggayahan Festival

First Lady Liza Marcos attended during the 2024 Kasanggayahan Festival kick-off event in Sorsogon.

In an Instagram post, Marcos expressed her appreciation and gratitude for being part of the festivities.

"It was such a joy to be part of this year’s Kasanggayahan Festival in the beautiful province of Sorsogon. What made it even more special were the amazing performances from neighboring provinces, bringing everyone closer together in celebration," the First Lady said.

"Sorsogon, you truly shine as the heart of kasanggayahan — where prosperity is all about unity, honoring traditions and working towards a brighter future!"she added.

Also in attendance was Senate President Chiz Escudero, who served as the representative of the First District of Sorsogon for three terms, and the provincial governor from 2019 to 2022.

President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. added P1 million each to the top three prizes for performances during the event, resulting in prizes of P4 million for first place, P3 million for second place, and P2 million for third place.

The Kasanggayahan Festival, first held in 1974, celebrates the establishment of Sorsogon as a province of the Philippines and separate from the Province of Albay.

“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa naging suporta ng ating mahal na Pangulong Bongbong Marcos at kay First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos na dumalo dito sa napakahalagang okasyon sa ating minamahal na lalawigan ng Sorsogon," Escudero said.

"Talagang malayo na ang narating ng Sorsogon at sigurado ako na mas malayo pa ang mararating natin sa darating na panahon,” he added.

(We are thankful for the support provided by President Ferdinand Bongbong Marcos and First Lady Liza Araneta-Marcos, who attended this very important occasion in our beloved province of Sorsogon. Sorsogon has really progressed so far, and I am sure that we would be able to improve more as time goes by.)
