Pryde Henry Teves files COC for Negros Oriental governor

Pryde Henry Teves is seeking a comeback as Negros Oriental governor as he officially filed his certificate of candidacy on Friday.

According to a GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak report, Teves was accompanied by Dumaguete City Mayor Felipe Antonio Remollo and other party-mates during his filing of the COC for the May 2025 elections.

Teves was initially declared the winner of the gubernatorial race in the 2022 polls, but the Commission on Elections (Comelec) invalidated his win after the votes garnered by nuisance candidate Ruel Degamo were credited to another rival, the late governor Roel Degamo.

The Comelec's decision was upheld by the Supreme Court in February 2023.

Pryde is the brother of expelled Negros Oriental congressman Arnolfo "Arnie" Teves Jr., who is accused of masterminding the killing of Degamo and several others in March 2023.

Arnie, who is currently in Timor-Leste, has denied any involvement in Degamo’s murder.

Pryde and Arnie were designated terrorists by the Anti-Terrorism Council in July last year, citing several alleged killings and harassment in Negros Oriental. — Hana Bordey/VBL, GMA Integrated News
