Vilma Santos, sons file COCs for Batangas posts in Eleksyon 2025

Veteran actress Vilma Santos-Recto is vying for a seat as Batangas governor as she filed her COC on Thursday in Batangas Provincial Capitol. With her were her husband, Sen. Ralph Recto, daughter-in-law Jessy Mendiola, and sons Luis Manzano and Ryan Recto who are both running for public office, as well. Former Batangas Sixth District Representative Vilma Santos-Recto on Thursday filed her certificate of candidacy (COC) for Batangas governor, a post she occupied from 2007 to 2016.

Santos-Recto, also a veteran movie and TV actress, filed her COC alongside her sons Luis Manzano and Ryan Recto who also filed their respective COCs for the 2025 elections.

Manzano, himself an actor and television host, will serve as his mother’s running mate in running for Batangas vice governor.

Ryan, meanwhile, will be seeking the House seat for Batangas' sixth district which was previously occupied by his mother. Santos-Recto also served as Lipa mayor.

The mother and sons filed their COCs under the Nacionalista Party.

Santos-Recto is the wife of Finance Secretary Ralph Recto, a former senator. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
