Batanes holds extended voter registration on Day 1 of COC filing period

The province of Batanes held its last day of voter registration on Tuesday, with the activity joining the first day of the week-long filing of certificates of candidacy (COC) for Eleksyon 2025.

“Nag-extend sila ng registration ngayon araw na ito and at the same time nagsabay na rin yung COC filing,” Comelec Chairperson George Erwin Garcia said during a media briefing at Manila Hotel Tent City in Manila.

“So dalawa aktibidada ang ginawa nila sa araw na ito sa halip na humingi ng additional na araw pagtapos ng filing ng COC,” he added.

(They extended the registration today, coinciding with the COC filing. So they have two activities today instead of having another day after the filing of COC.)

Monday was the last day of voter registration, but sign-ups were suspended in Batanes that day as Signal No. 4 was hoisted over the province due to Typhoon Julian.

The filing of COCs runs from Oct. 1 to 8, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Garcia also said 17 aspiring senators and 15 party-lists filed certificates of candidacy on Tuesday. — BM, GMA Integrated News
