MTKR Jason Bradley towed to dockyard in Orion, Bataan
Motor tanker Jason Bradley, the vessel which sank in the waters off Mariveles, Bataan in July and refloated just last week, has been brought to a dockyard in Orion.
The distressed vessel will now be subject to review and investigation by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG), National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), and Maritime Industry Authority (MARINA), according to GMA Integrated News’ Saleema Refran.
Oil samples were also taken from the motor tanker.
According to the PCG on Monday, the BRP Malamawi provided assistance and security during the towing operations of the vessel in Mariveles, Bataan on Sunday.
The MTUG Challenger, meanwhile, also supported the towing operations.
MTKR Jason Bradley sank off Bataan waters on July 27. It was carrying 5,500 liters of diesel and was also found to have leaks. The siphoning operations started on August 10.
Last Thursday, September 26, the PCG, citing contracted salvor FES Challenger, reported that the vessel refloated to 70% after seawater pumping, patching, and securing of the vessel's hull. —Giselle Ombay/KG, GMA Integrated News
