P19M worth of suspected drugs seized in Sorsogon


Nineteen kilos of suspected shabu and narcotics worth an estimated P90 million was seized by authorities in Matnog Port in Sorsogon on Saturday night.

The Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency Sorsogon said it received information that a vehicle from the Visayas en route to Manila was transporting illegal drugs. A joint team composed of PDEA Sorsogon, PDEA National Capital Region, Matnog Sorsogon Police was able to recover the contraband.

Authorities recovered 200 pieces of medium heat-sealed sachets containing 10 kilos of suspected shabu worth P50 million and eight bricks believed to contain narcotics amounting to P40 million.

Also seized as evidence were 3 cellphones and 2 ID cards.

Two suspects were arrested and identified as Kabilan Yusop Arsadc, 30 years old and from Poblacion Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao and Tato Kumpi Jehamin, 21, a native of Talitay, Maguindanao.

The two men are in police custody and are facing multiple violations of SectionIl/ RA 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drug Act of 2002.—Peewee C. Bacuño/RF, GMA Integrated News
