John Amores tests negative for gunpowder nitrates

PBA player John Amores has tested negative for gunpowder residue after he figured in a shooting incident in Laguna on Wednesday.

“Hindi naman po ito nagpapatunay na hindi siya nagpaputok ng baril dahil may iba-ibang factors kung bakit walang presence ng gun nitrate ang kamay,” said Police Major Bob Ordiz of the Lumban Police in a 24 Oras report by Mark Salazar.

(This is not proof that he did not shoot a gun because there are many different factors as to why there was no presence of gun nitrate on his hands.)

Amores and his brother’s arraignment and pre-trial are scheduled for December 4. They were released on bail on Friday.

Amores and his brother were initially wanted by Laguna police after he allegedly shot another basketball player in Lumban, Laguna.

The victim did not sustain any injury.

The suspects surrendered to the police and underwent inquest procedures on Thursday.

Amores and his brother were able to post bail after their cases were downgraded to attempted homicide.

“Binaba po 'yung ating finile kahapon na attempted murder, binaba po ng attempted homicide with the recommended bail for John Anthony na P24,000, at recommended bail po para sa kapatid niyang si John Red ay P10,000.  ‘Yun po ang appreciation ng fiscal's office,” said Ordiz.

(The attempted murder charge that we filed yesterday was lowered to attempted homicide, with the recommended P24,000 bail for John Anthony and P10,000 for his brother John Red. That is the appreciation of the fiscal’s office)

Despite this, Ordiz said that the CCTV footage of the incident, as well as testimonies from both the victim and witnesses, were strong evidence against the suspects. —Jiselle Anne C. Casucian/NB, GMA Integrated News
