1 critical, 2 others injured in motorcycle clash in Cebu

A motorcycle rider was injured then slipped into a coma after colliding with another motorcycle that had two passengers who were also hurt in Lapu-Lapu City in Cebu province, GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak's Fe Marie Dumaboc reported Thursday on "Saksi."

According to the Lapu-Lapu police, the two motorcycles were traversing on the opposite direction of a hangar aviation road.

At the junction, the second motorcycle turned left and clashed into the first motorcycle.

The police are investigating if the individuals involved were drunk at the time of the accident.

“Kapag ganitong oras, madaling araw, kumpyansa na ang mga rider kaya mabilis ang kanilang takbo. Nakakalimutan na ang basic na pag intersection, dapat huminto,” said Leiutenant Colonel Christian Torres, Lapu-Lapu City Police Office spokesperson.

(During this hour, early in the morning, riders are confident so they increase their speed. They forget the basic rules when driving at an intersection.)

GMA Regional TV is seeking comments from the parties involved in the accident.

Also in Lapu-Lapu City, a motorcycle rider died after allegedly attempting to cut in between a multi-cab and a fuel tanker.

The motorcycle rider was thrown off and due to the impact, the rider broke his ribs that stabbed his lungs, causing his death.

“Hindi at fault ang tanker kasi going straight siya. Mabagal ang kanyang takbo, pero yun nga ang court na ang magde-decide kung hindi sila magkakaayos,” Torres said.

(It’s not the tanker’s fault since it was driving straight. Its movement is also slow, but the court will have to decide on that should the parties involved not settle.) — Mariel Celine Serquiña/BAP, GMA Integrated News
