Quiboloy lawyer thanks Davao del Norte gov for help in pastor’s ‘surrender’

Davao del Norte Governor Edwin Jubahib was among the personalities thanked by the camp of controversial televangelist Apollo Quiboloy for being an instrument in the peaceful surrender of the pastor to authorities.

According to a report of GMA Regional TV’s Rgil Relator in “24 Oras” on Monday, Quiboloy’s lawyer Israel Torreon asked Jubahib for help last August 30 to talk to the Intelligence Service of the Armed Forces of the Philippines (ISAFP).

Jubahib was a previous client of Torreon.

“Siguro nakitaan lang tayo ng tiwala kung paano tayo mag-handle ng negotiation,” the governor said.

(I think they saw that they could trust me in handling negotiations.)

It was reported that Torreon negotiated seven times with the governor for the religious leader’s surrender.

The board of directors of Kingdom of Jesus Christ, the group founded by Quiboloy, wanted to make sure of the pastor’s safety during his surrender.

“Sila mismo ang magdala kay Pastor Apollo Quiboloy doon sa area kung saan final na pinagusapan na doon sunduin si Pastor Apollo Quiboloy,” said Jubahib.

(They should bring Pastor Apollo Quiboloy to the area where they agreed to fetch him.)

“Kapag nandoon na, sa kamay ng mga ISAFP o Philippine Army, ‘yun na rin ang time na tawagan si General Silo at lahat ng PNP commanders assigned in Davao Region,” he added.

(Once he is with the ISAFP or Philippine Army, that’s the time to call on General Silo and all the PNP commanders assigned in Davao Region.)

But Jubahib said that he doesn’t know where Quiboloy came from. According to Torreon, Quiboloy hid in the mountains of Davao City.

Further, Quiboloy’s camp denied receiving a 24-hour ultimatum from the Philippine National Police for the pastor’s surrender.

However, President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said he does not believe that Quiboloy surrendered to authorities, emphasizing that the police have been persistent in capturing the KOJC founder.

In the past days, tensions rose between the police and KOJC members as the former conducted a manhunt within the church’s compound in Davao City to serve an arrest warrant to the pastor.

The KOJC leader was flown to Pasay City on Sunday evening after his surrender.
