Ipo, Ambuklao, Binga dams still releasing water

Ipo Dam in Norzagaray, Bulacan

Three dams in Luzon, namely the Ipo, Ambuklao and Binga dams, were still releasing water on Saturday, data from PAGASA showed.

At 8 a.m., Ipo Dam in Bulacan had one gate open at 0.15 meter, same as on Friday.

This was after the water level at its reservoir measured 100.52 meters on Saturday morning, near the 101.10-meter normal high water level (NHWL).

Meanwhile, Ambuklao Dam in Benguet had one gate open also, but at 0.50 meter.

Ambuklao Dam's reservoir water level (RWL) was at 751.76 meters on Saturday, less than a meter away from the 752-m NHWL.

Binga Dam also in Benguet on the other hand had one gate open at 8 a.m. at 0.50 meter, a little big wider than the 0.30 opening of its one gate on Friday.

Its RWL was at 573.94 meters on Saturday, near the 575-m NHWL.

The trough of Typhoon Yagi (formerly Enteng) and Southwest Monsoon (Habagat) brought rains over parts of Luzon earlier this week after Enteng exited the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Wednesday.

This caused the water level in dam reservoirs to rise, data from PAGASA showed.

PAGASA said the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will bring cloudy skies with scattered rains over Luzon on Saturday. —KG, GMA Integrated News
