3 detainees bolt Taytay facility amid Enteng rains

Three detainees broke out of a custodial facility in Taytay, Rizal amid the bad weather caused by Tropical Storm Enteng, a duty jail officer discovered early Tuesday morning.

A report from Police Region Office 4A identified the escapees as Danny Boy Cancino and Ronald Barrera, who were detained for illegal drug offense; and Kurt Cavasal, who was detained for a gun offense.

The police said that around 5 a.m. the duty desk officer received the call from the duty jail officer that the three had escaped.

Based on initial investigation, the three took advantage of the inclement weather and connived to destroy the metal frame of the custodial kitchen area.

The jailer tried to pursue the fleeing detainees but was unsuccessful. A follow-operation is now being conducted by the police.

Tracker teams have been formed and flash alarms have been issued, the police said. Dragnet operations have also been requested in other stations.

According to Taytay Police Station, a P10,000 reward is being offered for information that would lead to the arrest of each detainee. —KBK, GMA Integrated News
