Water levels in some Luzon dams rose due to Enteng

Water levels in some Luzon dams, including Angat Dam, rose due to Enteng

Water levels continued to increase in some dams in Luzon due to the rains brought by Tropical Storm Enteng, state weather bureau PAGASA said Tuesday.

Based on its 8 a.m. dam updates, PAGASA said that the reservoir water level (RWL) in Angat Dam rose from 183.56 meters on Monday to 187.70 meters on Tuesday. The dam has a 210.00-meter normal high water level (NHWL).

The RWL in La Mesa Dam also slightly went up from 79.51 meters to 79.92 meters.

Increases were also recorded in San Roque Dam from 252.94 meters to 253.64 meters; Pantabangan Dam from 190.32 meters to 190.88 meters; Magat Dam from 184.22 meters to 184.75 meters; and Caliraya Dam from 287.10 meters to 287.26 meters.

Meanwhile, Ipo Dam’s reservoir decreased from 101.30 meters to 100.55 meters. One of its gates was opened to release 0.15 meters of water, as it has a 101.10-meter spilling level or normal high water level.

Water levels also dipped in Ambuklao Dam from 749.19 meters to 748.62 meters; as well as in Binga Dam from 571.96 meters to 571.03 meters.

On Monday, the Bustos Dam in Bulacan was forced to release water at 1,300 cubic meters per second after its capacity reached beyond its spilling level amid Enteng.

Six areas are currently under Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 as Enteng continues to move over the West Philippine Sea (WPS) on Tuesday morning, said PAGASA.

Enteng is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday morning. —Giselle Ombay/KG, GMA Integrated News
