Three people were reported dead in Antipolo City due to landslide amid the onslaught of Tropical Storm Enteng, according to a report of Super Radyo dzBB’s Carlo Mateo on Monday.

The landslide in Barangay San Jose claimed the lives of 12-year-old and 15-year-old boys who are siblings, and a pregnant woman who was expected to give birth this month.

In a Super Radyo dzBB report, Enrilito Bernardo Jr., Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Antipolo City head, said another landslide led to a man’s death in Barangay San Luis.

Further, three persons reportedly died in drowning incidents in Barangays San Isidro and San Luis.

Bernardo also said a missing person in Barangay Sta. Cruz was also found dead due to drowning.

He said one of the challenges that authorities face are residents who refuse to leave their homes even if they have been warned that the location of their houses are in danger due to landslides.

Meanwhile in Cebu City, one person was buried to death while five others were injured in a landslide caused by heavy rains brought by the Southwest Monsoon enhanced by Enteng, GMA Regional TV Balitang Bisdak reported.

The landslide led to the collapse of a concrete wall riprap in the vicinity of a vacant lot in Barangay Punta Princesa, Cebu City, but the incident affected the other side in Barangay Tisa, that destroyed eight houses, killed a 17-year-old girl, and wounded five others at around 3 a.m. on September 1, 2024.

According to the Cebu City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the body of the victim was retrieved at around 9 a.m.

Heavy rains also inundated places in Bogo City, northern Cebu such as Barangay La Purisima and Barangay Bungtod. No residents were hurt. No evacuation was necessary, according to the Bogo City DRRMO.—Joviland Rita, with a report from GMA Regional TV/AOL/RF, GMA Integrated News
