Floods, landslides, brownouts reported in provinces due to Enteng

Some provinces in Luzon and Visayas experienced flooding, landslide, and power outage amid the heavy rains brought by Tropical Storm Enteng on Monday.

Camarines Sur

According to a Facebook post of GMA Regional TV News, the Philippine Coast Guard Auxiliary (PCGA) rescued some individuals stranded in the middle of the floods in Naga City.

 

The flood in Minalabac National High School rose up to the windows of its classrooms.

 

The Bicol River swelled due to the heavy rains. Floods were reported in different barangays.

 

In the same town, the riprap of San Juan-San Lorenzo Bridge was damaged, which led to the closure of the area for heavy vehicles.

 

Camarines Norte

Aside from the floods in different areas, the provincial government reported that a lane of a bridge along Maharlika Highway was closed to traffic after a portion of it collapsed.

 

Sorsogon

 

Two linemen from Sorsogon II Electric Cooperative (SORECO II) on Sunday evening worked to restore power supply despite the strong winds and heavy rains.

Cebu 

One person was buried to death while five others were injured after a landslide in Cebu City amid the heavy rains dumped by the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, which was intensified by Enteng.

 

Northern Samar

Floods were observed in some roads in Northern Samar. Government personnel are closely monitoring the condition of rivers and bridges in the area.

 

Rizal 

A river in Montalban, Rizal almost overflowed amid the heavy rains. Due to the flooding and thick mud in their homes, 87 families evacuated to a covered court for their safety.

In Antipolo, some families were stranded on their rooftops as they called for rescue.

 

Several roads were impassable in San Mateo due to the floods.

 

As of 2:22 p.m., Antipolo Mayor Jun Ynares said that the following major roads are now passable: 

  • SM Masinag (westbound), Marcos Highway
  • Lopezville
  • Vermont Park, Marcos Highway
  • Kingsville III Subdivision, Marcos Highway
  • St. Therese of the Child Jesus Parish, Marcos Highway
  • V.V. Soliven, Sumulong Highway
  • Antipolo-Teresa National Road (Dalig National High School area)
  • Circumferential Road cor. Gen. Luna St. (PLDT area)
  • SM Cherry, Marcos Highway
  • M.L. Quezon Extension
  • Piedra Blanca/Puting Bato, Marcos Highway
  • NHA Avenue
  • Seminaryo (Inarawan), Marcos Highway
  • Bayugo-Buliran Road
  • C. Lawis St. cor. Circumferential Road

One lane passable:  Town and Country, Marcos Highway

Two lanes passable:  Filinvest Homes East, Marcos Highway

The following areas are still not passable: 

  • Sitio Hinapao going to Daang Pari
  • Sitio Binayoyo
  • Sitio Pulang Panyo
  •  Broadway Pines

Cavite

 

Heavy traffic was also encountered in Bacoor City, Cavite particularly on roads going to Longos and CAVITEX.

Some residential areas in the city were also flooded.

 

Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal (TCWS) No. 2 is still raised over nine areas in Luzon as Tropical Cyclone Enteng is seen to make landfall over Isabela or Cagayan on Monday afternoon or evening, state weather bureau PAGASA said.

Two people were reported dead and 10 others were reported injured in Central Visayas due to the impact of Enteng, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Monday.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
