Brownout set in parts of W. Visayas on Sept. 1

A power interruption is set on Sunday, September 1, 2024 in areas of Western Visayas.

The scheduled power interruption in Bacolod City is shortened to about two hours to four hours, from what was announced as 12 hours, in areas connected to the Alijis Substation.

The brownout is in line with the powering-on of the new 18 MVA transformer that is expected to gradually supply electric power to over 40,000 consumers, according to Engr. Bailey del Castillo, chief operations officer of Negros Power.

The mobile substation of More Power is set to be returned to Iloilo City in September 2024.

As defects were determined in seven of 11 substations, Negros Power said it braces for a widespread brownout as had happened in the previous week.

However, an eight-hour power outage is scheduled in the towns of Tigbauan, Alimodian, San Miguel, and Tubungan under ILECO 1 (Iloilo Electric Cooperative 1).

In Iloilo City, power will be shut down for eight hours also in Barangays Balabago, Quintin Salas, and MV Hechanova in the district of Jaro as More Power will facilitate maintenance activities.GMA Regional TV News
