Training center in Cavite shut down for alleged illegal recruitment

The Department of Migrant Workers (DMW) has shut down a language training center in Silang, Cavite for recruiting workers to Germany without the necessary permit from the government.

According to the surveillance conducted by the DMW’s Migrant Workers Protection Bureau (MWPB), the center has been illegally recruiting their students to the European country as nurses, caregivers, auto mechanics, bakers, butchers, restaurant and security workers with a promise of P60,000 monthly salary.

“Applicants are required to undergo a Dual Training Program, which combines vocational training with on-the-job training for a company. They first need to pass German language levels A1 to B2 training and practical job training for eight months,” the DMW said in a statement on Friday.

However, the language students will only have to use student visas when they are deployed to Germany.

“[They] will promise their trainees a full-time job in Germany, in exchange of Php 515,900 worth of processing fee, language training fee and practical job training fees. Using student visas, the applicants will be sent to Germany and will work part-time for their employers while studying at the same time,” the DMW added.

According to DMW, the language training center admitted that it has illegally deployed almost 200 of its students to Germany.
