100 PNP personnel enter KOJC compound on sixth day
About 100 members of the Philippine National Police (PNP) enter the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Buhangin District, Davao City early Thursday morning, GMA Regional TV One Mindanao's Kent Abrigana reported.
The PNP personnel are at the compound on the sixth day of efforts to serve warrants of arrest to Apollo Quiboloy and four co-accused for various charges.
The PNP also brought a long-range acoustic device o LRAD, an apparatus that produces sound at high power for communicating at a distance.
Abrigana reported that the said apparatus more commonly used for maritime and perimeter security as well as a method for crowd control.
On August 24, the PNP trooped to the KOJC compound in Davao to serve the warrant against Quiboloy, who is facing charges under Section 5(b) and Section 10(a) of Republic Act 7610 or the Special Protection of Children Against Abuse, Exploitation, and Discrimination Act.
Quiboloy is also facing a non-bailable qualified human trafficking charge under Section 4(a) of Republic Act No. 9208, as amended, before a Pasig court.
One KOJC member died due to heart attack while 16 other KOJC members filed a complaint following injuries allegedly sustained when police used tear gas on them.
Police Regional Office 11 (PRO 11) regional director Police Brigadier General Nicolas Torre III said however that they did not use tear gas. Instead, KOJC members used a fire extinguisher and a backhoe against police, he said, resulting in injuries to some of his men.
Earlier, PRO 11 spokesperson Police Major Catherine dela Rey. said they will continue searching for Quiboloy and his co-accused and no deadline has been set.
"Wala po tayong binibigay na target po dito o deadline sa ginagawa nating paghahanap kay Quiboloy at iba pa," she said.
Interior Secretary Benhur Abalos on Wednesday expressed confidence that fugitive pastor Apollo Quiboloy is still in the Kingdom of Jesus Christ (KOJC) compound in Davao City. — BAP, GMA Integrated News
