Magnitude 5.0 quake jolts Masbate town
A magnitude 5.0 earthquake hit southwest of Monreal, Masbate on Tuesday, PHIVOLCS said.
The monitoring agency said the earthquake of tectonic origin struck the town at 9:01 p.m. It had a depth of 10 kilometers.
State seismologists said that aftershocks and damage are expected.
Further, intensities were reported in the following areas:
Intensity V - City of Masbate in Masbate
Intensity IV - Monreal, Batuan, and San Fernando in Masbate
Intensity III - Uson, Mobo, Dimasalang, and Milagros in Masbate; Tagapul-an and Almagro in Samar; and San Vicente in Northern Samar
Intensity II - Baleno, Cataingan, Aroroy, Palanas, Mandaon, and Claveria in Masbate; Allenb, Victoria, San Isidro, and Lavezares in Northern Samar
Intensity I - Lope de Vega in Northern Samar
