DILG probes fire truck allegedly refilling swimming pool of Taytay house

The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) has directed the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) to conduct an investigation into the viral photo of a fire truck allegedly being used to refill a private swimming pool in Taytay, Rizal.

In an urgent memorandum signed by DILG Secretary Benhur Abalos Jr. on August 16, Friday, BFP chief Fire Director Louie Puracan was ordered to “immediately” conduct the probe of the incident to determine its validity.

Abalos also tasked Puracan to identify the BFP personnel involved in the act which he called “unscrupulous.”

“[I]f warranted, they should be relieved from their post pending the result of a formal investigation,” the letter read.

The BFP chief is expected to submit a progress report to Abalos’ office as soon as possible.

The incident allegedly took place in Maharlika Village and was publicized in social media by a Facebook account named "Taytay Updates."

In several photos, the account alleged that a red fire truck that was parked in front of a multi-level house had a fire hose attached to the vehicle leading to an upper floor where the swimming pool is supposedly located.—RF, GMA Integrated News
