Man arrested for rape of minor stepdaughter 

The National Bureau of Investigation-Central Visayas Regional Office (NBI-CEVRO) has arrested a man in Talisay City, Cebu for the rape of his minor stepdaughter, the agency said Wednesday.

According to the agency, the NBI-CEVRO received information from a concerned citizen regarding the crime.

The 13-year-old victim disclosed to her classmates that the man had constantly raped her since she was eight years old.

Due to this, NBI-CEVRO agents, along with representatives of the Department of Social Welfare and Development Region 7 and the Talisay City local government, conducted a rescue operation at their house on July 26.

Following the rescue, the victim told the operatives that she was again raped by the suspect at about 2 a.m. on the same date.

The operatives immediately arrested the individual upon his return.

He was presented for inquest proceedings before the City Prosecutor Office of Talisay City on July 29 for rape, penalized under Article 266-A of the Revised Penal Code as amended by Republic Act 8353 and R.A. No. 11648. —VBL, GMA Integrated News
