Ambuklao, Binga dam gates still open July 27

Some gates of the Ambuklao and Binga dams in Luzon remained open on Saturday morning, July 27, data from PAGASA showed.

Ambuklao Dam in Bokod, Benguet had one gate open at 0.50 meters as of 8 a.m. This was a decrease from the six floodgates open on Friday morning.

Binga Dam in Itogon, Benguet meanwhile had two gates open on Saturday morning at 1 meter. Six floodgates were open on Friday morning.

Ambuklao Dam's water level reading was at 751.03 meters on Saturday at 8 a.m., near the 752-meter spilling level.

Binga Dam on the other hand had 574.65 meters in its reservoir, just less than a meter away from the 575-meter spilling level.

Meanwhile, the other dams had the following water levels at 8 a.m. on Saturday:

• Angat Dam: 185.63 meters
• Ipo Dam: 100.99 meters
• La Mesa Dam: 79.71 meters
• San Roque Dam: 243.55 meters
• Pantabangan Dam: 182.79 meters
• Magat Dam: 180.53 meters
• Caliraya Dam: 286.70 meters

Heavy rains from Typhoon Carina and the enhanced Southwest Monsoon poured the past few days over parts of Luzon, filling dams and flooding many areas.

Metro Manila was placed under a state of calamity, as well as Bataan, Bulacan, Batangas, Cavite, and Cainta, Rizal. —KG, GMA Integrated News
