Man hit by falling papaya tree, dies in Camarines Sur

A 21-year-old man in Sagñay, Camarines Sur died after he was hit by a papaya tree that fell during a downpour. 

According to the police, the man was washing dishes in their outdoor kitchen when the papaya tree fell and hit him in the neck. When he fell to the ground, his face reportedly hit a rock. 

“Ang pagkabagsak nung [puno] sa may bandang leeg niya. And then after mabagsakan yung leeg niya, tuminama pa daw yung mukha niya duman sa sa may bato,” PMAJ. Michael Albania, Chief of Police of Sagñay, said.

The man did not make it to the infirmary alive. Autopsy revealed he suffered from fractures and internal bleeding. 

The victim’s sibling said she did not expect such a tragedy. 

“Dae ko man po inaasahan na arog kaito ta makusugon po kang oras na ito su paros… akala ko ngani naghuhugas lang, ‘to palan naipit na po ining payo niya kang tapayas,” Bañaria said.

Authorities urged the public to be careful given the bad weather conditions caused by the monsoon. —GMA Regional TV
