Batangas guv declares State of Emergency due effects of Carina, Habagat

Batangas Governor Hermilando Mandanas has placed the province under the State of Emergency due to the effects of Typhoon Carina and the enhanced southwest monsoon or Habagat.

"By virtue of the authority granted by existing Laws, Governor Hermilando Mandanas, with concurrence of Vice Governor Mark Leviste and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members, declares STATE OF EMERGENCY in the Province of Batangas EFFECTIVE NOW, 23 JULY 2024, and promulgate as soon as possible," the Batangas Public Information Office posted.

"This is in view of the effects of enhanced southwest monsoon (habagat) brought by Typhoon #CarinaPH in the province and upon the assessment of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC)."

Earlier, Mandanas declared the suspension of classes in all levels in both public and private schools in the province tomorrow, JULY 24, 2024, due to inclement weather.

In the same social media account, he announced that "seminars, conferences, meetings, and similar activities are also suspended in the province until further notice."

The decision was made after the assessment and recommendation of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (PDRRMC), Vice Governor Mark Leviste, and Sangguniang Panlalawigan Members.

"Meanwhile, employers, employees and all workers are strongly and seriously advised to take most prudent measures to protect the welfare of their families: life, health and properties." — BAP, GMA Integrated News
