Some areas in Bulacan, Pampanga flooded due to high tide, rain

A week before the start of School Year 2024-2025, some areas in Bulacan and Pampanga are experiencing flooding due to scattered rain showers and high tide, Katrina Son reported on “24 Orad Weekend” on Sunday.

In Calumpit, Bulacan, residents said the flood began rising at 6 a.m. Some had to use boats as the flood reached waist level. They also said the flood has reached its highest level today since high tide occurred this week.

Some residents also expressed worry as floodwaters swamp a school, with Brigada Eskwela—DepEd's annual cleaning and maintenance activity in public schools nationwide in preparation for the new school year—will begin on Monday.  

In Masantol, Pampanga, 22 barangays were affected by the high tide. According to the Masantol Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, the water level has reached 4.6 feet above sea level.

Residents in Macabebe, Pampanga were also affected by the flood.

In its latest weather bulletin, PAGASA said Carina—now a severe tropical storm—has maintained its strength and will continue to enhance the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.

State meteorologists added that Carina would remain far from the Philippine landmass and exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility by Wednesday night or Thursday morning. — Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
