American sex offender denied entry in Clark —BI

The Bureau of Immigration (BI) barred an American sex offender from entering the country at the Clark International Airport (CIA) in Pampanga.

According to the BI, passenger Rusty Contan Thomas arrived in the country from Taiwan on July 8. He was denied entry after records showed he had a positive hit in the BI’s derogatory alert system.

Thomas, 33, is a registered sex offender who was convicted for sexual offense while serving in the US Air Force. He was reportedly tried by a court martial in 2022 and convicted on two counts of possession of child pornography which resulted in his discharge from the service.

The BI said Thomas was placed under the immigration blacklist, which perpetually bans him from entering the Philippines.

“Our country is off-limits to all foreign sexual predators because it is our duty to protect our women and children from being victimized by these unwanted aliens,” said BI Commissioner Norman Tansingco said. —Sundy Locus/RF, GMA Integrated News
