Heavy rains postpone Marcos event in Ilocos Norte

ILOCOS NORTE — Heavy rains disrupted the schedule of President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. in the Municipality of Piddig.

Torrential rains and strong winds blew away the tents in the venue, which was supposed to hold the inauguration and turnover of the Rice Processing System and various agricultural machinery at the Piddig Basi Multipurpose Cooperative.

According to Presidential Security Command chief Brigadier General Nelson Morales, the aircraft carrying the President attempted to fly, “but the weather condition did not permit us to take off.”

“Zero visibility en route to Piddig, Ilocos Norte,” Morales said in a message.

There is no information yet from the Presidential Communications Office on when will the event push through.

On Friday, July 19, Marcos will grace the Sulvec Small Reservoir Irrigation Project in the Municipality of Pasuquin. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
