Marcos vows to improve healthcare system in Romblon

ILOCOS NORTE — President Ferdinand ''Bongbong'' Marcos Jr. on Thursday vowed to improve the healthcare system in Romblon.

In a speech delivered by Interior and Local Government Secretary Benhur Abalos in Romblon, Marcos said the Department of Health (DOH) is closely working with local officials to modernize the healthcare facilities in the province.

The President said the DOH and concerned local offices are working hand in hand in hiring more medical professionals, healthcare workers, and specialists.

“Sa katunayan, noong nakaraang Abril, na-ipagkaloob [na namin] ang isang Super Health Center sa bayan ng Magdiwang sa Sibuyan Island,” Marcos said in his speech.

(Last April, we were able to provide a Super Health Center in Magdiwang in Sibuyan Island.)

Marcos was referring to the P846 million used for the Health Facilities Enhancement Program of the government, which covers 134 health facility projects in MIMAROPA.

He added that the government also disbursed P2.37 million for the medical, nursing, dental and nutrition services for learners, including teaching and non-teaching staff from seven school divisions in the region.

“Umaasa kaming higit na malilinang pa ninyo ang mga hatid naming tulong upang mapagyayaman pa ninyo ang inyong lalawigan,” Marcos said.

(We are hoping that you could utilize the assistance we provided to enrich your province.)

Marcos was not able to personally go to Romblon due to bad weather. He was supposed to deliver presidential assistance to farmers and fisherfolk in the province.

Marcos is here in this province to grace the inauguration and turnover of the Rice Processing System and various agricultural machinery at the Piddig Basi Multipurpose Cooperative.

He will also grace the Sulvec Small Reservoir Irrigation Project in the Municipality of Pasuquin. — RSJ, GMA Integrated News
