LGBTQ member killed with a hammer in Davao City

A member of the LGBTQIA+ community in Davao City died after his alleged lover hit him in the head with a hammer.

The 30-year-old victim was found inside their room at a subdivision in Barangay Bago Aplaya on Sunday, July 14, 2024.

“Isa ka rason kung nganong namatay ning biktima is katong pagbunal og martilyo diri sa likod nga parte sa iyahang ulo,” Davao City Police Office (DCPO) Spokesperson, Captain Hazel Tuazon, said.

Police said the victim and the suspect had a fight on July 12, 2024, but they were reportedly seen drinking in the evening the next day.

Investigators are looking into jealousy as a motive in the killing.

“Ang rason man gud ani is selos based sa investigation nga nakuha nato sa suspek kay last Friday, naa silay panaglalis based sa statement nga nakuha nato ilahang silingan. And then last Saturday mao to nag-inum sila,” Tuazon added.

The suspect was seen going out of their house morning on Sunday. He was arrested in Malalag, Davao del Sur in the evening.

The suspect refused to comment. He is facing murder charges. —GMA Regional TV
