P32-B entertainment complex to rise 2025 in Clark

The Clark International Airport Corporation is set to begin construction of a P32 billion entertainment complex in Clark, Pampanga in 2025, EJ Gomez reported in 24 Oras Weekend on Saturday.

Some Filipino fans were dismayed when the Philippines was excluded from the American pop superstar Taylor Swift's “Eras” tour. Some speculated that there are no available venues that could meet the concert requirements.Swift last held a concert in the Philippines in 2014.

That’s why Clark International Airport Corporation said a P32 billion entertainment complex will not only be ready to cater to demanding concerts but also aim to increase the number of travelers and strengthen the economy of the area.

“When we had this vision to have the entertainment center (in) Clark, we already did a lot of promotions, market sensing. We've gotten some interests,” said Arrey Perez, president of Clark International Airport Corporation.

But unlike the Taylor Swift concert venues at the Singapore National Stadium and Tokyo Dome in Japan, which both having a 55,000 seating capacity, the entertainment complex will have around 20,000 to 20,000 target capacity.

“We've done some studies. It's hard to fill up 55,000 seats. Ang pinaka-ideal really is about 25,000 to 35,000 seats kasi, mas maraming events na naho-host,” Perez said.

Perez said they are open to inviting Taylor Swift to have a concert in the new entertainment complex in the next edition of her world tour.

“We will court her. I hope that by that time when we build our complex, ready na tayong i-host siya, papayag na sila makukuha na natin,” Perez said.—Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
