2 children missing in Lanao del Sur amid flooding

Two children were reported missing amid the flooding in Lanao del Sur, Joseph Morong reported on “24 Oras” on Wednesday.

In the same province, motorists could not pass through Narciso Ramos Highway due to the strong water current.

The flood also killed some animals and left thick mud in the affected houses.

According to the state weather bureau PAGASA, the bad weather in Mindanao was caused by the Intertropical Convergence Zone and thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, a video taken in Kalamansig, Sultan Kudarat, showed that a landslide occurred after a third motorcycle passed by a road.

After the incident, authorities conducted clearing operations.

Local disaster responders and some police also conducted clearing operations on affected roads as several landslides occurred in Tigbao, Zamboanga del Sur.

A man was also reported missing, as he was possibly engulfed by a landslide.

In M’lang, Cotabato, some residents were unable to sleep after their houses were submerged in floods due to the heavy rain that lasted over two hours.

A stream also overflowed, and it took several hours before the flood subsided.

Floods also caused the highways in Tantangan, South Cotabato, and Alabel, Sarangani, to look like a river.

PAGASA said the La Niña phenomenon may begin between October and December instead of between September and November, based on data from different climate models. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/VBL, GMA Integrated News
