Marcos directs his office, DSWD to provide aid to Cebu flood victims
President Ferdinand "Bongbong" Marcos Jr. on Tuesday ordered the Office of the President and the Department of Social Welfare and Development to help victims of flooding in Cebu.
“I also directed the Office of the President and the DSWD to provide assistance to the local government units affected by the flooding. We include all those affected in our thoughts and in our prayers,” Marcos said during the opening ceremony of the 64th Palarong Pambansa in Cebu City.
Concerned government agencies are actively conducting search and rescue operations, he added.
"Rest assured, national and local governments are working closely to bring speedy help to those who are affected by the heavy rains, especially in Carmen, in Minglanilla, and Cebu,” he said.
At least two people were killed while five are missing when a pick-up truck they were riding was swept away by the raging river in north Cebu on Monday.
In a “24 Oras” report, PAGASA said the rains that cause flooding in some parts of the country are due to thunderstorms. — Celine Serquiña/BM, GMA Integrated News
