Pampanga beauty contestant Geneva Lopez and her Israeli boyfriend Yitshak Cohen died from gunshot wounds, according to the results of an autopsy conducted by the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

Based on the autopsy result acquired by John Consulta, both victims sustained two gunshot wounds.

The 26-year old Lopez was shot on the back of her torso and her left thigh, which caused a fracture.

 A "metallic slug" was also recovered from her body. It was submitted to the Firearms & Toolsmark Identification Division for ballistic examination.

Meanwhile, the body of 37-year old Cohen bore gunshot wounds on his left chest and near the armpit. 

The couple was last seen alive on June 21. They were reportedly going to Capas, Tarlac to purchase a piece of land prior to their disappearance.

The couple's car was discovered in flames early morning the following day along a road beside a grassy field in Capas.

NBI Director Jaime Santiago on Saturday confirmed the human remains found in a quarry site in Barangay Sta. Lucia in Capas, Tarlac are of the missing couple.

Santiago said a land dispute may have been the motive behind the crime. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA Integrated News
