Traffic enforcer hit by bus after apprehending driver in Cavite

A traffic enforcer was killed after a bus driver sped up and hit him instead of accepting his traffic violation ticket in Dasmariñas, Cavite on Wednesday.

According to Jamie Santos' report on "Saksi," the incident happened in front of a mall in Barangay Sampaloc 1. 

Police investigation showed that the traffic enforcer apprehended the suspect for violating the “no loading” policy. 

The bus driver sped up and hit the victim, the report said. 

“Nagkaroon sila ng argument nung driver po. Nag-resist po siyang i-receive yung ticket na ibinigay sa kanya, at the same time hindi niya po binibigay yung kanyang driver’s license,” Rally Roa of the Dasmariñas City Police said.

(They argued. The driver refused the ticket issued to him, and did not surrender his driver’s license.) 

“So ang ginawa po, nung paglapit nung traffic enforcer natin, pinaandar niya yung sasakyan niya, hanggang sa masagasaan niya yung traffic enforcer at makaladkad niya pa po ito,” she added. 

(When the traffic enforcer approached him, he drove the bus until he hit the traffic enforcer and dragged him.) 

The suspect was arrested in a follow-up operation. 

The Dasmariñas City Police said that the bus driver was charged with murder and had been detained at its custodial facility. 

Meanwhile, the D.asmariñas City Traffic Management Unit mourns the passing of their colleague. 

“Wala naman siyang ginawang mali. Ginagawa niya lang trabaho namin. Bakit ginanyan niya na parang aso lang yung kasamahan namin. May mga naiwan siyang mga anak na maliliit pa lang. Paano na lang yung pamilyang naiwan niya?” said traffic enforcer Alvin Vio.
