Viral video leads to evidence-planting questions in Iloilo town

The video of a drug suspect's arrest in Iloilo went viral after one of the police officers dropped a sachet of shabu and prompted internet users to ask if evidence had been planted.

According to the report on "Saksi" by Kim Salinas of GMA Regional TV, police officers stressed that the anti-drug operation was legitimate.

The viral video showed one of the arresting officers dropping a sachet of white substance while securing the suspect.

The suspect was heard asking the policeman to stop planting evidence on him.

Police Capt. Jesus Batilante, the chief of police of Dueñas town, said the viral video was only a part of a longer video that showed that the sachet had indeed been taken from the suspect.

The Iloilo Police Provincial Office stood by the report of the municipal police office.

Police Maj. Rolando Araño, the spokesman for the provincial police, said the dropping of the sachet was "purely accidental."

The amount of shabu recovered from the suspect was worth P41,000.

The suspect is facing drug charges. —NB, GMA Integrated News
