Newborn found at vacant lot in Batangas

Newborn found at vacant lot in Batangas

A woman found a newborn baby at a vacant lot in Brgy. Sta. Anastacia, Sto. Tomas City, Batangas.

Police said the concerned citizen brought the baby to the barangay hall.

"Ngunit sa amin pong pag-iimbestiga, ito pong abandonadong lote pong ito ay may bakod at may mga aso. Kumbaga, private lot po ito. Bumalik po doon ang ating investigator at may nakita na pong inunan nitong bata," PMAJ. Emil Mendoza, Deputy Chief of Sto. Tomas Component City Police Station, said.

The newborn is now under the care of health workers in Sto. Tomas City while the police investigate to identify the baby's mother and the person who abandoned the baby.

Police suspect that the woman who brought the baby to the barangay hall may be the mother.

"Itong certain 'Mary Ann' kahapon ay parang may dinaramdam at ayon sa ilang may bahay doon, baka siya rin ang nanay," Mendoza said.

Police appealed to the public.

"Mayroon po tayong DSWD (Department of Social Welfare and Development) na handang tumulong sa kanila pagdating sa mga ganyang bagay at mayroon pong kaukulang bagay; at may ahensya po na handang tumulong sa kganitong sitwasyon. Sa katunayan po, itong baby ay dadalhin na sa kanilang shelter maybe this afternoon para doon maalagaan ng maayos," Mendoza said. GMA Regional TV
