Mini-hydropower facilities to rise in Lanao del Sur - BARMM gov't

Several mini-hydropower facilities are set to rise in Lanao del Sur to boost the electricity supply in the province.

According to the Bangsamoro government, the power projects will be launched in the towns of Kapai and Marogong and will be funded under the special development fund of the Bangsamoro Planning and Development Authority (BPDA).

The BPDA, the Ministry of Environment, Natural Resources, and Energy, and the local governments of Kapai and Marogong signed a memorandum of agreement for the projects on June 21.

"This project highlights the significance of sustainable resource management, as demonstrated by the MENRE's leadership," BPDA Director-General Engr. Mohajirin Ali said in a news release.

"The mini-hydropower facilities will provide a reliable and clean energy source, reducing our dependence on non-renewable and environmentally harmful energy sources," Ali added.

Energy security is among the enhanced 12-point priority agenda of the Bangsamoro government. It focuses on developing, exploring, and utilizing alternative energy resources to foster investments and generate job opportunities for the people of the region. — Sundy Locus/VBL, GMA Integrated News
