An irate janitor set a school on fire in San Carlos City, Negros Occidental.

The janitor who was fired reportedly from work said he burned the storeroom (bodega) down of Daisy's ABC School as an act of retaliation.

According to the San Carlos City Local Government Unit Information Page, Daisy's ABC School is an iconic structure founded by Chinese-Filipino Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

The flames engulfed quickly the rest of the school building and reached the ancestral house of San Carlos City Mayor Renato Gustilo in Ylagan Street. The mayor was not around when the fire broke out.

The incident on June 14, 2024 also gutted a historic business building on Locsin Street owned by Mayor Gustilo's grandfather.

According to the mayor, the janitor got mad when he was told he is set to lose his job.
