11-year-old student found dead inside Cavite school
The body of an 11-year old girl was found inside a school in General Trias, Cavite, it was reported yesterday.
According to Mariz Umali’s 24 Oras report Wednesday, the body of the young victim was discovered in a grassy portion of a school, days after she went missing over the weekend.
The victim sustained wounds on her face. A length of vine was coiled around her neck. Her clothes were also lifted.
“Masakit, emosyonal, kasi hindi naman hayop 'yung anak ko eh. Ginano'n lang. Tao 'yun eh,” her mother said.
(It hurts, it’s emotional. My daughter was not an animal for her to be treated like that. She was a person.)
The victim’s mother, who works in Manila, said she last talked to her daughter via phone on Saturday evening when the child asked for money to buy slippers.
The victim’s father, a tricycle driver, said he last saw Rheamae when she asked him for cash on Sunday. He said he waited for her to come home that night but she failed to return.
The mother said she returned home as soon as she learned of her daughter’s disappearance.
Police said they are now looking for a suspect who immediately escaped after the incident. They declined to provide additional details of the ongoing investigation.—Sundy Locus/RF/KG, GMA Integrated News
Erratum: This article has been updated to clarify that the victim was not a student of the school where her body was found. The location where the body was found is also not part of the school. GMA News Online regrets the error. Our apologies.
