Man killed over cellphone in Cebu City
A man died in Cebu City after he was knocked down following a tension over a cellphone.
According to John Consulta’s report on “24 Oras” on Tuesday, the suspect wanted to redeem his cellphone from the victim. But the victim has already pawned it to somebody else, the report added.
The victim’s response infuriated the suspect as CCTV footage from the Cebu City Police Station 2 showed that the latter kicked the motorcycle where the former was seated.
The suspect picked up the victim and knocked him down on the ground which injured his head.
He was supposed to attack the victim further but he ran away after seeing the victim’s head bleeding, the report said.
The suspect was immediately arrested after witnesses identified him.
“Na-hot pursuit operation ng ating kapulisan yung suspek sa serious physical injury na kaso na finile natin sa kanya. At hinatid sa police station para ma-filean ng kaso,” said Police Major Mark Don Alfred Leanza, Cebu City Police Station 2 station commander.
(He was arrested following a hot pursuit operation and he was brought to the police station for charges of serious physical injury.)
The suspect was sorry for what happened. But he would now face charges of murder from the initial case of serious physical injury, the police said.—Vince Ferreras/LDF, GMA Integrated News
