Man caught on video allegedly slaughtering his dog may face charges


A man caught on video allegedly slaughtering his own dog in Baguio City may face charges of violating the Animal Welfare Act.

A complaint was filed against the man by alias Rose, the one who took the video, and Rita Ortiz, chief executive officer of the animal rights group Biyaya Animal Care. It was filed at the prosecutor's office, according to a report on Unang Balita on Tuesday.

"Rose" said she took the video on May 30 and posted it on video to ask help from netizens.

Biyaya Animal Care responded to Rose's post.

According to the group's investigation, the dog was slaughtered for a graduation feast.

The dog was tied to a jeepney during the incident.

The suspect may face two years jail time and a fine of P100,000. —KG, GMA Integrated News
