4 dead, 6 hurt in road accidents in Misamis Oriental

Four people were killed while six others were injured in separate road accidents in Misamis Oriental.

Police said three passengers died on the spot while six others were wounded after the passenger van they were riding crashed into a trailer truck in Magsaysay town.

Investigators said the van was bound for Gingoog City while the trailer truck, carrying a bulldozer, was heading to Butuan City when the accident happened.

The van reportedly hit the bulldozer loaded in the truck when the two vehicles both cut into the opposite lane.

The truck driver and the families of those who died have reportedly reached an agreement. However, the truck driver may face charges for reckless imprudence resulting in multiple physical injury and damage to property.

“Base sa investigator nga for filling ang kaso kay katung reckless imprudence resulting to homicide murag naa sila’y compromised agreement. Tapos ang i-file nila karon ang reckless imprudence resulting to multiple physical injuries ug damaged to property,” Misamis Oriental Provincial Police Office Spokesperson, Captain Geraldine Botanas, said.

Meanwhile, in Tagoloan, Misamis Oriental, a motorcycle rider died when he figured in an accident when a car allegedly decided to counterflow and hit the motorcycle.

The driver of the car identified as Lt. Christian Abug who was assigned at the Police Regional Office-Northern Mindanao (PRO-11) was taken into police custody.

Authorities reminded motorists anew to follow traffic rules and observe defensive driving.

“Follow lang ta sa atong traffic rules ug i-observe gyud nato ang atong pagka-defensive driver,” Botanas said. —GMA Regional TV
