Security guard robs pawnshop he's guarding in Rizal
A security guard was nabbed after robbing the pawnshop he was supposed to have been guarding in Rodriguez, Rizal.
According to Raffy Tima's report on 24 Oras, the thief even used his service firearm.
"More or less P1.2 million yung halaga ng kagamitan at ari-arian na natangay ng suspek natin," said Police Colonel Felipe Maraggun, Provincial Director, Rizal Province Provincial Office.
(More or less P1.2 million is the value of the equipment and property that the suspect took away.)
The suspect fled and went into hiding.
"Na-profile namin at may kapatid pala itong pulis din so kinontak namin, so 'yun tumulong din nakatulong din sa effort natin," said Maraggun.
(We profiled him. He also has a brother who is also a police officer so we contacted him. So that also helped in our effort.)
After a week of hiding, the suspect surrendered to the authorities through his brother.
The police are said to be in the process of recovering his stolen items while the suspect will face multiple charges including illegal possession of firearms.
It was discovered that the suspect had been a security guard at the establishment for three years.
The authorities reminded the establishment owners to be mindful when hiring a guard.
"I-profile pa rin yung mga pipiliing mga guard and yung trusted security agency. Isang malaking bagay i-coordinate lagi sa pulis kung may nade-deploy na guard to the nearest police station," Maraggun added.
