Commercial flight operations at Pagadian airport resume

Commercial flight operations at the Pagadian Airport in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, have resumed after rehabilitation of its runway was completed.

The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) said the emergency repair on the runway, which involved repairing 34 concrete blocks, was completed ahead of the May 15, 2024 schedule.

"The complete works were finished on April 24, and after the 14-day curing process, the Notice to Airmen was lifted on May 13," CAAP-IX Area Center Manager, Edwin Luching, said.

Restrooms at the Passenger Terminal Building were also improved.

With this, operations of around 120 flights that were affected since the closure of the runway on April 15, 2024 have resumed. Passengers who had to alter their routes can travel through the Pagadian Airport again, CAAP said.

"The successful completion of runway rehabilitation in Pagadian underscores CAAP's unwavering commitment to enhancing its services for the riding public. Moreover, it demonstrates CAAP's dedication to ensuring the safety of incoming and outgoing flights at the airport, further fostering confidence among travelers," CAAP said. —GMA Regional TV
