1 dead, 5 injured after car falls off bridge in Ragay, CamSur

One person died and five others were severely injured after a car fell off a bridge in the town of Ragay in Camarines Sur on Sunday morning.

According to a report by Peewee Bacuno on Super Radyo dzBB, the accident occurred at 11:30 a.m. in Barangay Apad, Ragay, Camarines Sur during the height of heavy rain.

Investigation by the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office  said the vehicle was traveling from Manila and was heading towards Naga City, Camarines Sur when the car fell off the bridge.

Witnesses said the bridge was not particularly high, but the water level was high at the time. The car also landed on its roof, hindering rescue efforts.

The fatality was identified as the driver of the car. Five other people, including a child, were rushed to the hospital and are currently being treated.

The Ragat Municipal Police Station is conducting an investigation.—RF, GMA Integrated News
