Luzon grid on red, yellow alert on April 23—NGCP
The Luzon grid was placed under red and yellow alert status on Tuesday, according to the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP).
In an advisory, the NGCP said a red alert will be hoisted over the Luzon grid from 3 p.m. to 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.
It also raised the yellow alert from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. and from 10:00 p.m. to 12 midnight.
The available capacity in Luzon is 12,832 megawatts (MW) against an expected peak demand of 12,671 MW.
The following areas were affected by the automatic and subsequent manual load dropping:

The red alert status is issued when the power supply is insufficient to meet consumer demand and the transmission grid’s regulating requirement, while the yellow alert is issued when the operating margin is insufficient to meet the transmission grid’s contingency requirement.—Sherylin Untalan/LDF, GMA Integrated News
