Cops nab murder suspect who evaded arrest for 8 years
After eight years of evading arrest, a construction worker was nabbed in Rizal for two counts of murder in 2016.
According to a 24 Oras report by Emil Sumangil on Tuesday, the 40-year-old suspect was located after a neighbor reported his whereabouts to authorities.
“Ayon sa information, siya’y nakatira malapit din sa mismong address niya talaga… nag-research ang tropa, nagikot-ikot doon, nakakuha ng asset… Natumbok natin,” said CIDG - DSOU chief Police Lieutenant Colonel Dave Toktokan.
(According to information, he lived near his actual address... the men did some research, scouted the area, gathered assets... he was located.)
Meanwhile, the suspect claimed that what he did was in self-defense after the victims allegedly confronted him.
“Umuwi, tapos mamaya bumalik. Pagbalik, may dala nang kutsilyo… Wala na kaming maatrasan, naki-ano na po ako… Nakipagharapan na sa kanya, naagaw ko kutsilyo, yun yung unano ko sa kanya. Sa leeg niya,” said the suspect.
(They went home, then later came back with a knife... I had nowhere else to go... I faced him, took the knife and that's what I used on him, on his neck.)
“Lagi silang talo sa sabong po… Baka doon sila nagalit sa akin,” added the suspect.
(They always lost at the cockfights... Maybe that's why they got angry with me)
