Taal emits highest amount of sulfur dioxide in 2024

Taal Volcano emitted the highest recorded amount of sulfur dioxide so far this year on Thursday.

According to a Friday 24 Oras report, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology said the volcano emitted 18,638 tons of the said volcanic gas.

However, the PHIVOLCS noted that there was no volcanic smog or vog observed at the Taal Caldera.

PHIVOLCS reminded the public that inhalation of sulfur dioxide for long periods may irritate the eyes, throat, and lungs.

Meanwhile, residents in Tagaytay City battled heavy rains.
