Flood buries cars in Baguio, Isabela after heavy rains
Heavy rains induced by the easterlies and localized thunderstorms caused flooding in some parts of Baguio and Isabela submerging vehicles.
According to a "24 Oras" report by Claire Lacanilao, the rains came despite the ongoing El Niño phenomenon.
At least 14 parked cars were buried in a seven-foot flood at City Camp Lagoon, Barangay Lower Rock Quarry, Baguio City.
The flood was reportedly caused by garbage that blocked the drainage canals.
Residents have begun cleaning efforts on Thursday morning.
“Nililinis ‘yung sasakyan, ‘yung makina sakaling maisalba pa kasi totally submerged ito,” said car owner Danny Cariño.
(We're cleaning up the car, we're hoping we can salvage the engine after it got totally submerged.)
The local government has begun unclogging the drainage. No residents were reported injured due to the flood.
In San Luis, Aurora province, residents carried rental picnic huts to higher ground after the downpour that caused the flood.
In Ilagan, Isabela the Abuan River overflowed due to heavy rains. One car was submerged in the floodwaters, but was recovered by residents. —Jiselle Anne Casucian/LDF, GMA Integrated News
