The victim was identified as Lawrence Angco, 62. He was brought to the hospital but was declared dead on arrival.

Angco succumbed to at least nine gunshot wounds.

Rodel Ragasa, chief of Magsingal Police Station, said.

Cartridges from a caliber .45 firearm were found at the crime scene.

Police said the victim was ambushed while leaving the cockpit.

The motive behind the shooting remains unknown.

According to the wife of the victim, they were unaware of any threat to Angco's life or any controversy he was involved in.

According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), Angco also had a clean record and ran unopposed in the recent elections. —GMA Regional TV
