118 barangays in Davao City face 20% water rate hike
Residents of 118 barangays in Davao City under the service area of the Davao City Water District (DCWD) can expect higher fees as the water district is set to implement a 20% rate increase in 2024.
According to the DCWD, this is the second tranche of the water rate hike. The first tranche, which was 30%, was implemented in 2022.
For residential and government connections, the minimum rate for the first 10 cubic meters will be P214.20 from P178.50.
An increase of P22.50 will be charged for 11-20 cubic meters; P29 for 21-30 cubic meters; P38.50 for 31-40 cubic meters; and P56.20 for over 40 cubic meters.
“This 20% is actually the second tranche of the 60% that we requested sa 2021, which consequently was approved but considering the situation then coming from a pandemic we strategize the 60 percent into tranches,” DCWD spokesperson Jovanna Duhaylungsod said.
DCWD said the 10% increase for the third tranche will also be implemented this year.
The DCWD added that the increases are intended for the projects and improvement of services. —GMA Regional TV
